NHCD Blueprint Goal: Support the production of 50 Permanent Supportive Housing units each year, with half of those being Housing First

Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) is an intervention that combines affordable housing assistance with voluntary support services to address the needs of people experiencing chronic homelessness. The services are designed to build independent living and tenancy skills and connect people with community-based health care, treatment, and employment services. Housing First is an approach to PSH that quickly and successfully connects individuals and families experiencing homelessness to permanent housing without preconditions and barriers to entry, such as sobriety, treatment or service participation requirements. NHCD builds PSH units using Rental Housing Development Assistance funds and is currently developing a methodology to track Housing First units.
